THE MIND COACH
WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is a form of behavior modification counseling coupled with the theory of neuroscience. It is a holistic approach of “Total Sensory Communication” between the mind, body and emotions providing a powerful and effective means of creating “permanent” lifestyle changes. By combining hypnosis with specialized therapeutic techniques, a professionally trained Hypnotherapist acts as a guide to assist you in releasing old, negative habits and fears that keep you from reaching your desired goals.
World renowned doctor, lecturer and educator, Dr. Joe Dispenza believes that you can achieve anything once you learn how to rewire your brain and recondition your body. Dedicating his research in the field neuroscience, Dr. Joe states that, “We are marvels of flexibility, adaptability, and a neuroplasticity that allows us to reformulate and re-pattern our neural connections to produce the kind of behaviors that we want. We have the power to alter our brain, our behaviors, personalities, and ultimately our reality. Through the concept of mental rehearsal (hypnosis), the circuits in our brains can reorganize themselves to reflect our very intention for change.
Therefore… when we change our mind, our brain changes, and when we change our brain, our mind changes!”
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a heightened state of focus and suggestibility in which the body and conscious mind are in a relaxed, natural state while the subconscious mind remains very alert and receptive to positive suggestions for change. People often refer to hypnosis as a “trance-like state,” where one can concentrate intensely on a specific thought, memory, feeling or sensation while blocking out distractions. Hypnosis is a tool used to bypass the critical analysis of your mind so that the suggestions can be accepted and then incorporated into a new “automatic” behavior. While hypnosis can be used for personal benefit, it cannot cause you to do anything against your free will or ethics. Therapeutic hypnosis is used to improve your health and well-being and is different from stage hypnosis that is used for entertainment purposes only.
WHAT IS SELF-HYPNOSIS?
When hypnosis is performed by a Hypnotherapist or by listening to an audio, it is called “Hetero-hypnosis.” When hypnosis is performed solely by you, it is referred to as “Self Hypnosis.” Self Hypnosis is very beneficial when working with general self-improvement issues. It is not recommended for more serious or deep-seated mental or emotional concerns.
Self Hypnosis is governed by two laws of suggestibility in order for it to work. The Law of Association and the Law of Repetition. The more you use Self Hypnosis in your daily life the more effective and rapid these changes will be.
In order to learn Self Hypnosis, you must first establish a series of “anchors” or signals for the mind and body to go into a trance-like state. These anchors are in the form of a key word such as relax, calm or focus, deep breathing techniques and a physical reminder such as touching your thumb and fingers together to initiate your trance. When combined with a hypnotic count down such as 5 to 0 into the subconscious mind, a person can then enlist a series of positive suggestions for physical, mental and emotional stages well being.
Understanding the power of the mind and how our subconscious programming and habits are formed is a beneficial tool for people of all ages. This knowledge can make all the difference in the world in creating success, happiness and prosperity.
