It represents people whose personality styles are called - Relaters, Analyzers, Drivers, and Socializers.

The RADS Personality Profile is a system that categorizes individuals into these four distinct personality styles. Understanding these styles can significantly enhance your ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with your clients. 

RADS belongs to the broad family of four-pattern behavioral and communication models similar to the DiSC and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), but is designed specifically for practitioner use. Its emphasis is not workplace performance, sales, or team management. Its emphasis is the helping relationship: rapport, emotional protection, resistance, suggestion, readiness, and follow-through.

RADS can sit beside other appropriate frameworks. A practitioner will also need to consider a client’s life history, such as attachment patterns, stages of change, sensory preferences, family roles, cultural context, nervous-system state, and developmental history. RADS should contribute useful information to the practitioner to maintain a level of rapport in their sessions.

That question matters because most new clients do not walk into a counseling, coaching, or hypnotherapy session feeling completely relaxed and ready to reveal everything. Many of them feel like they are sitting in the hot seat. RADS helps you to gain rapport so that the client can feel safe, seen, and heard to do the work.

RADS changes how the practitioner questions and gathers information in the initial session.

Instead of asking, “What is wrong with this person?” or “Which technique should I use?” It becomes more useful using a question like this:

“How does this person need to receive information in their style safely to move forward in a positive direction in order to participate in change?”

That question does not minimize skill, intuition, or clinical training. It makes those abilities more precise. It is a delivery lens. It helps you decide how to introduce the work, how much to explain, where to slow down, when to become more direct, and what kind of follow-through the client is most likely to use.

The method matters. But the client’s style influences how the method is received. That is why this is a practitioner manual rather than simply another personality assessment.
