What is your life purpose?

They say the two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you finally discover the reason why you are here…

Now you may know the day you are born, but have you ever taken the time to do a little soul searching to find out what your life purpose is? What makes you happy in life? Not what others tell you what you should do to be happy, but what you really want?

It’s hard isn’t it? One of the most important discoveries in our life is to realize our life purpose.

Does your life purpose have to be your job? Of course not. Having a job is what we need to do to pay the bills, take care of your family, and survive in the world. It’s your job. But do you know your purpose?

Maybe your life purpose is to volunteer at the hospital or feed the homeless. Maybe it’s being a good mother, father, partner or teacher. Maybe it’s to sit in the sun for 2 hours each day and enjoy nature! It doesn’t matter what it is but it will be something unique and special just to you.

But in trying to find our life purpose, we often get stuck in the associations of the past and say to ourselves:
“If only this didn’t have happened to me – then my life would have been o.k.”
“If only I would have gone back to school, got married or had kids later – then I would have been o.k.”
“If only I would have been more assertive on the job or left that relationship – then I would have been o.k.”

If only… Can we change the past? No. But if you focus on it long enough you will find yourself stuck and not able to find your true happiness.

Then there are some of you that spend your time dreaming about your future and you say things like:
“When I am rich or make a million dollars – then I’ll be happy.”
“When I get the new boat, house or car – then I’ll be happy.”
“When I get married and have kids – then I’ll be happy…when I can get rid of the kids… THEN I’ll be happy.”

Why why why…

How many of you are focused right here and right now in the present? It’s hard to do, but it’s where we need to be to live the life we deserve. So each day take the time to reflect on this wonderful saying:

The past is history, the future a mystery, today is a gift – this is why we call it the present.

The past is history. It’s done. But we can still learn and grow from it. The future is not even here but we can create what we want by setting goals and getting focused. Today is a gift. Take the time to find your life purpose this year!

You Are What You Think

You Are What You ThinkHow many times a day do you focus on the negatives in your life? Stop and think about it for a moment… Once, twice, all day long! Are you aware that we tend to focus on the negatives 10 times more than the positives? As a matter of fact, some of you wake up in the morning, get out of bed and say a negative thing to yourself right away. You get up, look in the mirror and scream – “What is that!?”

Then you start getting ready for work. You look in the closet and low and behold you have NOTHING to wear! You mind has a way of stressing itself out by jumping to other issues. You not only look bad, but your in a dead end job, a loveless relationship and living in an area you can’t stand! Your life is in shambles!

There is an old adage that says, “You are what you eat.” Well the same holds true for your mind, “You are what you think.” Logically, most people realize that each day can be a struggle no matter who you are or what you do. It is your attitude that will make all the difference. Now think about this…

If you have negative thoughts in your mind what will you get in your life? Negatives! If you have positive thoughts what will you get? Positives! And if you don’t know what you want – what will happen? NOTHING! That’s right!

So check in with yourself on a daily basis and make a mental note of your reaction towards people, places and situations. It takes just one negative thought to cause stress in your life. Take the time to stop, take a deep breath and ask yourself – is it worth it? Then do what it takes to turn your thinking around to the positive! Make each day count and remember, you are what you think!

Self Hypnosis

When hypnosis is performed by a Hypnotherapist or by listening to a CD, it is called “Hetero-hypnosis.” When hypnosis is performed solely by you, it is referred to as “Self Hypnosis.” Self Hypnosis is very beneficial when working with general self-improvement issues. It is not recommended for more serious or deep-seated mental or emotional concerns.

Self Hypnosis is governed by two laws of suggestibility in order for it to work. The Law of Association and the Law of Repetition. The more you use Self Hypnosis in your daily life the more effective and rapid these changes will be.

In order to learn Self Hypnosis, you must first establish a series of “anchors” or signals for the mind and body to go into a trance-like state. These anchors are in the form of a key word such as relax, calm or focus, deep breathing techniques and a physical reminder such as touching your thumb and fingers together to initiate your trance. When combined with a hypnotic count down such as 5 to 0 into the subconscious mind, a person can then enlist a series of positive suggestions for physical, mental and emotional stages well being.

Understanding the power of the mind and how our subconscious programming and habits are formed is a beneficial tools for people of all ages. This knowledge can make all the difference in the world in creating success, happiness and prosperity.

The Power of Hypnosis

Pass Through The Doorway of TranceHypnosis — or hypnotherapy — uses guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness that is sometimes called a trance. The person’s attention is so focused while in this state that anything going on around the person is temporarily blocked out or ignored. In this naturally occurring state, a person may focus his or her attention — with the help of a trained therapist — on specific thoughts or tasks.

How Does Hypnosis Work?

Hypnosis is usually considered an aid to psychotherapy (counseling or simply therapy), rather than a treatment in itself. It helps with psychotherapy because the hypnotic state allows people to explore painful thoughts, feelings, and memories they might have hidden from their conscious minds. In addition, hypnosis enables people to perceive some things differently, such as blocking an awareness of pain. Hypnosis can be used in two ways, as suggestion therapy or for patient analysis.

Suggestion therapy: The hypnotic state makes the person better able to respond to suggestions. Therefore, hypnotherapy can help some people change certain behaviors, such as to stopping smoking or nail-biting. It can also help people change perceptions and sensations, and is particularly useful in treating pain.

Patient Analysis: This approach uses the relaxed state to find the root cause of a disorder or symptom, such as a traumatic past event that a person has hidden in his or her unconscious memory. Once the trauma is revealed, it can be addressed in psychotherapy.

What Are the Benefits of Hypnosis?

The hypnotic state allows a person to be more open to discussion and suggestion. It can improve the success of other treatments for many conditions, including:

  • Phobias, fears, and anxiety
  • Sleep disorders
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Post-trauma anxiety
  • Grief and loss

It also might be used to help with pain control and to overcome habits, such as smoking or overeating. It also might be helpful for people whose symptoms are severe or who need crisis management.
